This is the album with Goods' "Cambodia", "Act of Will", "Voidarama" and "Triumphant Limp" -- (the latter co-written). Two of those four were going to be in our OCT 2021 tour. Also on the album was Percy's "Noddy Goes to Sweden" a funky little ditty we have already played on previous tours in 2018-19. For 2021, John really wanted to bring forth some new songs the new band was working on, as well as ones we'd not previously played live in a while, like "Algon". It was sounding great!
Our manager, "Spiny" Norman Bedford, had gotten the low-down on the makings of "Do They Hurt" from then Genesis & Brand X mgr Tony Smith. Norm recalls Tony: "Ah yes... quite a good solution to the problems of divisions within... We kept the studio busy round the clock with a lockout, no dead time. The daytime guys recording in the day and slept at night, The nighttime guys recorded at night, slept in day. John was the glue in the middle, he played guitar with both camps, with Giblin and Jones splitting Bass -- and in the end -- despite the mixed bag of nuts -- it still all sounded like Brand X."
