Genesis und Lindisfarne

    Ich habe mich gerade mit jemanden über Genesis unterhalten und er teilte mir so nebenbei mit,
    dass er Genesis durch Zufall bei einem gemeinsamen Konzert mit Lindisfarne erlebt hat.
    Er ist der Meinung, dass das in Dortmund 1972 oder 1973 gewesen sein muss,
    hat dazu aber auch keine weiteren informationen gefunden.

    Gibt es eigentlich hier oder irgendwo eine vollständige Liste mit allen Konzerten
    bzw. ist euch bekannt, wie oft, wann und wo Genesis zusammen mit Lindisfarne gespielt haben?
    War jemand vielleicht sogar dabei?

    Nach ein bisschen Recherche habe ich folgendes gefunden:

    Genesis sind erstmals 1975 im Rahmen der Lamb Tour in Dortmund aufgetreten. Also stimmt entweder das Jahr oder die Stadt nicht. Und selbst bei dem Konzert 1975 wage ich zu bezweifeln, dass Lindisfarne als weiterer Act dabei waren.

    Wo sich beide Bands definitiv "getroffen" haben, war das Reading Festival 1971 & 1973 (1972 war Genesis auch dabei, Lindisfarne aber nicht).

    Bei einer kurzen Google-Recherche habe ich keinen Hinweis darauf gefunden, dass Lindisfarne überhaupt jemals in Dortmund aufgetreten sind (aber das muss ja nichts heißen).

    Mehr kann ich momentan so auf die Schnelle nicht anbieten.

    Da heißt es laut Colin Richardson:

    Working with Genesis was both interesting and exciting during those years, as their star was most definitely in the ascendant at that point, but mainly in the UK. However, word of their original and ground-breaking theatrical stage show was already beginning to spread further afield, with Italy being the first foreign audience to recognise their unique talent. My brief was to extend that breakthrough to the other European countries, in particular Germany, which was the most important European market as far as record sales were concerned. So, I broached the idea of a Charisma Tour package to Strat, which would feature Genesis, Lindisfarne and Capability Brown. I had to stress that we would have to find some serious financial support for it to be viable, as no German promoter would be prepared to take on such a expensive and risky venture, given that none of groups were exactly well-known there back then. Strat agreed the project without hesitation...typical of his readiness to back his acts with hard cash. I then took the idea to Germany's top tour promoters Lippman and Rau, as I knew them well, having worked with them a few years before (with jazz-rock band Colosseum) and rated them highly for their experience and professionalism.

    A brief tour of four dates was quickly put together. It opened on 13th January 1973 at the Congresshalle Hamburg and a sell-out crowd got the tour off to a good start. The following day we travelled to Heidelberg, where they were to play the Stadthalle on the 15th. However, soon after our arrival, Fritz Rau came to me with some surprising information. A message had awaited him at the hotel from the producer of an important German TV show that was being filmed in Frankfurt that evening as part of "British Week". It transpired that the featured group had pulled out suddenly for some reason and he wanted to know if Genesis could take their place. Fritz hardly needed to impress on me the importance of such a TV show and what a lucky break this was for them. I quickly related all this to the group and they immediately agreed that it was too good an opportunity to miss...so off we went. The show was being filmed at the Festhalle and they performed two numbers - "Watcher of the Skies" & "The Musical Box", both of which went down well with the live audience. The next day Genesis rejoined the tour for the Heidelberg concert and the two remaining dates - the 16th at the Stadthalle, Offenbach and the 17th at the Philipshalle, Duesseldorf. They then had a couple of days off before starting the Italian dates at Reggio Emilia Palasport on January 20th.


    Demnach wäre der Auftritt in Frankfurt am 14. gewesen, am 17. waren sie dann wohl doch in Düsseldorf.

    Never overestimate the dreadfulness of the mass market.

    Interessant. Vielen Dank für dieses Zitat.

    Grade die frühen 1970er sind, was die Konzertdaten von Genesis angeht, teilweise sehr unklar und wenig bis gar nicht belegt. Daher fällt eine Recherche auch sehr schwer. Natürlich ist hier nicht 100%-ig gesichert, dass Herr Richardsons Gedächtnis lückenlos und fehlerfrei funktioniert, aber immerhin klingt es plausibel.

    Die Verwirrung um das Datum des Frankfurt-Konzerts könnte daher kommen, dass die Aufnahme ggfs. am 17.01.1973 gesendet wurde. Wäre nicht das erste Mal.

    Ich glaube, dass die Hauptdatenquelle hier meistens Genesis Movement ist. Und wenn's da falsch steht, wird es fleißig kopiert, ohne dass jemand die Angaben kritisch hinterfragt. Hierzu muss man aber zugegebenermaßen auch einen Anlass haben - wie du grade. ;)
