Heute habe ich mir mal wieder das gigantische Knebworth-Konzert reingezogen und dabei fiel mir Folgendes auf:
Phil ist in seinen Ansagen meist echt schwer zu verstehen.
Während Gabriel ja früher recht gut zu verstehen war, nuschelt sich Collins ziemlich einen ab.
Speziell beim Old-Medley gibt es da Passagen die mir ziemlich unverständlich sind.

I know it must be difficult for you standing there, looking at these very well preserved torso´s up here. to actually comprehend how long we´ve been around here. But we´ve been around for a while and some of you may be around with us. What we gonna do now is going back to the dark distant, slightly damped seventies when we all used to wear that bell(bottom??) trousers. Fashion statement and i still got mine. And some of us had hair, it´s (vielleicht auch what`s - hier hat Collins wirklich nuschelt) a beautiful thing. We had strung together some pieces of our history and we called it simply "It´s our history strung together." Mister Rutherford.
Könnte hier und da falsch sein, da ichs jetzt auch nur nach Gehör aufschrieb, aber wenn dann nur ein "Äh" als and oder so Kleinigkeiten. Hoffe ich...

Und dürfte die längste Passage an Collins`schem Material sein, die sich Herma freiwillig reingezogen hat...

Wow Herma, Respekt... Das müsste tatsächlich so richtig sein.
Und dann gab es da noch so'ne Passage bei der HBTS - Ansage wo Collins raushaut "He, on to fuck you comes from this" oder so ähnlich und das Publikum ist ziemlich aus dem Häuschen. Hab ich nie so ganz kapiert. Warum?

Phils sagt: "There are (oder may be, habs schon wieder vergessen :D) peope who say `Iam to fucking cool for this man`" Das ganze bezieht sich darauf, dass die Leute die Arme hochnehmen sollen um mit der Geisterwelt in Kontakt zu treten.

Es war eine Variation der Romeo & Juliet Ansage aus den 70ern zu The Cinema Show.
Er erzählte die Geschichte zu Ende sagte dann sowas wie "this has nothing to do with this piece of music" und es startete das Old Medley

Ich wusste gar nicht, dass Phil so böse mit der Erwartungshaltung der alten Fans spielen konnte.
Vielleicht hat er sich auch alzheimermäßig einfach in der Ansage vertan und das dann immerhin konsequent weitergesponnen. -
Hier die vollständige Ansage vom RAH-Konzert (16.11.1992), könnte mich auch immer noch wegschmeißen, es ist aber auch wirklich fies.
Thank you. - Romeo was a very lonely young man, but he wasn't for the want of trying. Every night Romeo used to go cruising the singles' bars looking for the perfect female companion. And tonight was going to be his lucky night! Oh yes. Well, he found himself at the bar, two or three seats down from a very beautiful-looking girl: Juliet. Romeo had a drink, summoned up his courage, stalked down there and started to chat Juliet up, bought her a drink or two or ten, and before long she made no objection when he invited her back to his place. Well, Romeo started to make the moves on Juliet, but under closer scrutiny he was very shocked, stunned, and surprised to discover that Juliet was in fact not a real person at all, but an inflatable doll. "This would account for a couple of things", thought Romeo. She was very quiet, and yet she always looked like she was just going to say something. Well, this surprise discovery did not deter Romeo from his night of lust and passion and, in fact, night after night after night after night of lust and passion following. Romeo was shagged out. Anyway, eventually he decided to take Juliet, who was, of course the ideal companion (she never had a headache, she never said 'no', she never had to stay in and wash her hair), but he did decide to take her farther afield and went to the cinema to see a film. Well, there he was, lit up a cigarette, which he always did after sex, and then he put his arm around her and started to get engrossed in the film. But yes, he started to get so engrossed in the film that he forgot to keep an eye on ash on the end of his cigarette. Well, the ash got longer and, of course, the inevitable happened and the ash fell into Juliet's lap. And instead of the customary "Ouch!" all Romeo heard was a bang as Juliet fled off the seat and started to circle the cinema ceiling like a burst balloon. Well, unfortunately for Romeo, that was the last he ever saw of Juliet, and today Romeo is still a very lonely young man.
This actually has nothing to do with the next piece of music. I thought I'd just like to share that with you.
