Tony und Phil an der "Ente" und Dave Hentschel als

    Hab mal 2 Fragen zu den Credits im Duke-Booklet, da steht ja folgendes:

    Was ist DUCK für ein Instrument? (Ist mir auch als leidenschaftliche Musikerin nicht bekannt, dieses Instrument.) Und war es damals im Trend, dass Produzenten auf den von ihnen produzierten Alben im Background singen? Wie darf ich denn Hentschel´s Gesangskünste einschätzen?

    In dem Buch "Inside and Out" von Robin Platts (S. 116) wird das mit "duck" durch folgendes Zitat von Phil Collins aus einem Interview mit "Rockline" erklärt:


    "The duck was in fact the duck call. Its one of those little things that like, you know, if you shoot riftles and stuff and you're trying to capture, you know, trying to kill ducks or whatever, you have duck calls and cow calls and things like that. Before I got to know Earth, Wind & Fire and we wanted to get the horn sound on Behind the Lines and Turn it on again, the only way to do it was for me to trigger a vocoder and a synthesizer, and I was fooling around with a duck call, which I played into a microphone, that went through a synthesizer, from the synthesizer to a vocoder. It ended up sounding like a horn section, but we thought if we put horn section on it, people would think that it was a horn session when it wasn't. So we called it the duck"

    Interessant. Also dürfte man sich Behind the Lines und Turn it On Again sogar als mit Horn_Section vorstellen ? Dann ist die Version vom Knebworth-Konzert ja eigentlich sogar die "ursprünglichere".

    Ich glaub 3 und 4 Stimmen machen nicht sooooooooooooo einen großen Unterschied, oder? Hoffentlich gibt es in Zukunft keine Bohlen-Produktionen mehr, wo er auch noch selbst mitsingt :kotz:

    Salmacis bei Misunderstanding hat er mitgesungen kam mal in einem Interview. Bei Turn It On Again bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher kann aber gut sein. Statt ihm hät ich aber lieber Peter geholt wie bei Take Me Home wo er aber leider fast nicht zu hören ist.

    Dann hoffe ich mal, dass man das synthetisierte Entenhorn auf der neuen SACD-Veröffentlichung besser heraushören kann. Ich höre da bis jetzt nur Keyboard raus. Und was ich mich noch frage: Warum hat Mike als Einziger nicht in die Ente geblasen?
