Einer meiner Bekannten, welche ich für TMB in Brüssel erwärmen konnte (insgesamt 14 Kollegen und Kolleginnen, die meisten aus EU-Kommission), hat eine Konzertkritik geschrieben, in englisch und französisch. Wenn ich Zeit finde, werde ich eine deutsche Fassung dranhängen... Ich selbst konnte leider nicht hin (war in Berlin an dem Wochenende), aber meine Frau war da und erneut begeistert, wie schon letztes Jahr.

Samedi soir au Cirque Royal de Bruxelles, c’était le retour de Musical Box qui présentait à nouveau le show « Trick of the Tail », inspiré de l’album éponyme de Genesis.
Était-ce le fait que je connaissais déjà ce show par cœur l’ayant vu –et apprécié- l’année dernière, mais je dois dire que je n’ai plus vibré comme en 2008. Certes, le groupe a le contact avec le public, le son, le show, le laser, les fumées, le mimétisme des musiciens avec le groupe original, tout est parfaitement au point, on se demande toujours comment le groupe parvient à donner un show aussi long (près de 2 heures), à jouer des morceaux aussi compliqués sans le secours d’une partition et sans –apparemment- accuser nulle fatigue mais j’ai quitté la salle avec le sentiment d’avoir vécu certes un bon moment mais pas exceptionnel comme l’année dernière ou la première fois que je les avais vu à l’Ancienne Belgique jouer Selling England by the Pound ou bien sûr The Lamb.
Néanmoins, je tiens à le dire, c’était un excellent concert, très professionnel, sans faute de goût, avec un son parfait et des basses vigoureuses qui méritait parfaitement l’ovation que lui fit un nombreux public debout après un « Los Endos » très enlevé. Les reverrons-nous un jour « on tour » avec le Wind and Wuthering show ?

On Saturday night at the Cirque Royal of Brussels, Musical Box was back with their Trick of the Tail show after the eponymous album of Genesis.
I already knew this very show by heart as I saw –and enjoyed- it last year in the same place and maybe for that reason I have to say I wasn’t thrilled like in 2008. Yes, the group has a good contact with the audience, the sound, the slides, the laser, the smokes, the mimicking of the musicians with the original group, everything is OK, I still wonder how they can perform such a long show (almost 2 hours), how they can play so perfectly such difficult pieces of music without the help of a score and without –well, apparently- showing any trace of tiredness but I left the hall with the feeling I certainly had lived a good moment but not like the first time I saw them at the Ancienne Belgique playing Selling England by the Pound and of course The Lamb.
Nevertheless, I want to say it was an excellent concert, very professional, without lack of taste, with a perfect sound and vigorous basses which perfectly deserved the standing ovation from a large audience after a spirited “Los Endos”. As an encore, the group played “It” followed by the final bars of “Watcher of the skies”. Will we see them once again one day, this time with the Wind and Wuthering show?
