Scratch - Peter Gabriel Tribute (2018)

    Ende letzten Jahres erschien ein Tribute-Album in Israel - das gesamte Album Scratch wird hier anlässlich des 40jährigen Bestehens von (vermutlich) israelischen Musikern neu aufgenommen / interpretiert.

    Nun ja, mein Fall ist es in großen Teilen nicht. Das grandiose "On the air" so zu verhunzen ist zwar auch Kunst, aber keine, die mir Applaus abnötigt.


    Do it yourself gefiel mir noch nie, hat sich jetzt auch nicht geändert.


    Mother of violence erinnert mich in Sachen Gruselfaktor an "Dance on a volcano" auf Hacketts erster Revisited. Immerhin ist der Gesang besser.


    A Wonderful day gefällt mir da schon besser. Immerhin keine totelektronisierte Kaspermucke wie die drei vorherigen Stücke. Aber dann doch zu schnarchig.


    White shadow hingegen gefällt mir sehr gut. Das erste Stück, welches ich mir ohne Schmerzen in den Ohren bis zum Schluss anhören konnte.


    Und scheinbar möchte sich das Album nun bei mir einkratzen (der war geplant), denn auch Indigo begeistert mein Ohr.


    Exposure werde ich wohl nochmal anhören müssen, weiß noch nicht ob ich es gut oder schlecht finden soll / darf / muss.


    Hingegen weiß ich, dass mir Animal Magic gefallen würde, wenn der Sänger bzw. die Sänger sich vorher keine Valiumdosis eingeworfen hätte. So aber versuch ich einfach, daran vorbeizuhören.


    Auf der Scratch eines meiner Lieblingsstücke und so auch hier. Kann jetzt nicht weiterschreiben, muss erstmal hören.


    Perspective ist ein weiteres Stück, bei dem ich vermute, dass da viel Valium im Spiel war. Hätte nie gedacht, dass mich das Lied mal in den Schlaf wiegen könnte.


    Home sweet home klingt irgendwie nach Cohen macht Gabriel. Am Ende des Albums gut aufghoben.


    Freut mich, dass ich geschmacklich Verunsicherten helfen konnte. :)

    Niveau sieht nur von unten aus wie Arroganz.

    Ich hatte mittlerweile mit dem Produzenten Kontakt, der mir einige interessante Aspekte zu diesem Album verriet:


    My name is Omer Dayan and I'm a producer (Menashe Forest Festival) and an artist (Shtuby, Armageddon Jam) and as a Peter Gabriel top fan I wanted to celebrate this albums 40th anniversary and was fortunate enough to have friends and other Israeli artists that were happy to work on this with me - especially Shimon Tal that recorded, mixed and mastered the album and is credited for the production with me as you can read on the credits and Tal Adam Argov who made the art happen.

    I felt the "Scratch My Back" album and challenge should get a conceptual reply that would respect PG's work and art and this album has always been a personal favorite of mine - the concept was to open the production that Fripp and PG made so closed and different than other work in an album that just waited to be opened and Scratched. Gabriel boycotts our country and at first we called it "Scratch Your Boycott" as a call to the artist to see the people and fellow artists and not just close his mind to millions because he thinks our government is evil. We may agree with him but don't think blocking and boycotting the fans is the human way.
