Hier die Textbeilage der LP

Die Suite ist für mich das Beste, was Rutherford bisher geschrieben hat ! Der Wechsel der Dynamik, die herausragenden (Ant) Keyboards, die teilweise knackigen Drums von Simon Phillips, die stimmige Geschichte und die grandiosen Melodien. Ich greife wirklich selten in verschiedenen Foren zur Höchstbewertung, aber hier mit ganzem Herzen.

Das Gesamtwerk Smallcreep ist eine der 5 besten Solo-Aufnahmen aller Genesis Mitglieder !

Seine Kritik am fehlenden Zusammenhang größerer Formen bei Genesis wiederholt sich hier erneut. Und erneut denke ich, dass er nicht weit genug hört.

Danke für den Link! Ich sehe es auch so: Ant hat der Platte seinen Stempel aufgedrückt. Komisch, dass ich hierzu nie etwas geschrieben habe. Auch habe ich vor einiger Zeit nur 10 P gegeben. Für mich ist die Suite das Beste, was Mike je Solo gemacht hat. Sitimmiger Text, schöne Rythmen und Melodien, saubere Bassarbeit, ja und diese Gitarrensoli!! Sind die wirklich von Mike? Nicht with a little help of Ant? Sei´s drum: Super, Mike!
Warum dann nur 10 P? Es liegt an der Produktion: Wie soll ich es beschreiben? 80er- Jahre Kälte gepaart mit süßer Schwere. Wie viele AOR-Platten aus der Zeit. Würde sie wie Ant´s Geese & The Ghost klingen......
Gut. Ich hätte gerne mehr so etwas von Mike gehabt...

Bob Grattinger did the arrangements for this evocative description of city life. The term clusters is the best way to describe his chords which sound like a very well organised traffic jam.

'Illuminations', Buffy Sainte-Marie
Buffy sounds like no other female singer on the planet--a one-off. We need her protest songs more and more on this crazy planet--long live the queen of music.

'Hejira', Joni Mitchell
'Hejira' was one of a series of albums Joni did which were nudging at jazz. This was most people's introduction to the incredible Jaco Pastorius.

'Live-Evil', Miles Davis
'Live-Evil' was a rare attempt at atonal music which manages to be both anarchic yet cohesive. As each instrument speaks you'd be hard pushed to identify it.

'Smallcreeps Day' combines a great team that only gathered for this one album--note-perfect and flawlessly executed.
