Das ist ein Film der TotT-Tour mit Bruford und einigen Film-einblendungen aus Stumm-Filmen (während des Instrumtalteils von Cinema Show!!!)oder David Hamilton-mäßig (während "Entangled-eine Fraun die in Slo-Mo durch die Dünen hüpft-brrr, gruselig).
An einer Stelle aber sind sie gut:
während Apocalypse in 9/8 sieht man Bomber-Aufnahmen aus dem zweiten Weltkrieg etc - während der pompösen Akkorde nach "of a brand new tune" exakt auf jeden Akkord ein Haus im Atomblitz zerschreddern-und zum Schlussakkord einen Atompilz genau auf den Takt...
Das ist ein ziemlicher Hammer.Angeblich hat man mit dem Regisseur gesprochen, die Footage nochmal zu überarbeiten, aber es gibt da wohl Probleme mit den Rechten-wie so oft.
Oder so?

* Los EndosAs described in the Seconds Out press release kit, this film was premiered on 29th January 1977 coupled with Rick Wakeman's "White Rock" billed as "Sensasia", the program boasting "Shot in Panavision, with three-track stereo sound, this is a film that will have considerable appeal for the millions of Genesis fans around the world, as well as reaching those that appreciate the best in progressive rock music." Concert footage is mixed with black and white film clips of Keystone Cops style slapstick comedy (Cinema Show instrumental) and war images (Apocalypse In 9/8). As indicated in the film credits, some footage was shot at the Bingley Hall, Stafford (10th July 1976). Entangled has been released on the Archive #2 box set, where it is identified as a recording from Stafford; I don't yet know which of the other tracks were taken from Stafford, though the It/Watcher encore was certainly from Glasgow.
Genesis In Concert was subsequently shown at Cinemas throughout the UK, later to be used as a trailer for various other films (I recall seeing it together with Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains The Same" and the film version of "The Incredible Hulk"!). In 1986 the show was broadcast on US TV on a program called "Night Flight", a syndicated cult music video program created by Stuart Shapiro, which started airing in June 1981 and so preceded MTV. Instead of the usual cinematic widescreen format, the Night Flight broadcast of the film featured a full screen version. At some point Night Flight also broadcast the half hour Seconds Out promo video filmed in Dallas 1977. For quite a while now the widescreen footage has been available in Japan on both video and laserdisc and some good bootleg DVD transfers are around.
Apart from the Capital Radio programs and the In Concert film the material has been heard in an assortment of other forms. It/Watcher from Glasgow 1976 is the same version as on the UK release of the "Three Sides Live" double LP and CD. Phil's introduction which can be heard on the Capital Radio version is ommitted on the offical release. Just as well, since the introduction is an apology to the Scottish crowd for having praised them the previous night as being the best audience in England! On 26th December 1981 Radio London aired one song on their "Rock In The Movies" program. As well as playing Pink Floyd's Careful With That Axe Eugene, Crumbling Land and Seamus Blues they also aired I Know What I Like from the 1976 movie. The soundtrack of the laserdisc is faithfully reproduced on a rare vinyl bootleg release sporting black and white sleeves; 150 copies pressed on crystal vinyl and about 50 copies on different coloured and multicoloured vinyl.
According to director Tony Maylam the entire uncut film footage and multitrack recordings of both Stafford and Glasgow gigs are still intact. Potentially a full CD or DVD release could be a wonderful Archive Club project and a great gift to the army of die-hard Genesis fans.
...den film bekommt man auf diversen fan-dvds...für umme! also blos kein geld auf ebay dafür ausgeben...die beste version gibt's wohl auf "Genesis Collection 1976 - 1978 - High Bitrate (GMDVD 15)" (HIER klicken)....

Ich habe ihn damals gesehen. Die Life-Aufnahmen haben mir am besten gefallen. Die Einblendungen fand ich daneben.
Ich kann mich auch noch an ein Interview mit Genesis erinnern. Damals äusserten sie sich nicht so besonders über den Film. Mike kritisierte eben die Bomber und Explosionsaufnahmen von Supper's Ready. Die Aufnahmen seien nie in dieser Form mit ihnen abgestimmt worden. -

Trotz der Einblendungen finde ich den Film - und die gesamte ATofT Tournee - von musikalischer Seite super! Bill Bruford wertet den Sound echt auf. Ich bin zwar ein riesiger Chester Thompson Fan, aber einige Songs trommelt Bill einfach hervorragend:
Was er da bei der Apocalypse in 9/8 neben Phil spielt finde ich genial, genauso wie bei Cinema Show.
Phil sang zu der Zeit besser denn je und Mike legt eine unglaubliche und ungewohnte Spielfreude an den Tag. Bei Los Endos geht er richtig aus sich heraus.
Ein weiteres absolutes Highlight der Tour war auch Dance on a Volcanco. Selten habe ich dieses Stück so kraftvoll gehört. Und dann war da ja noch White Mountain....
Daher meine eindringliche Bitte:Wenn es tatächlich noch die Originalaufnahmen der beiden Konzerte gibt, dann veröffentlicht das komplette ungeschnittene Material als DVD!
Ohne die großteils nervigen Einblendungen könnte dies die beste Live-DVD in der Geschichte Genesis' werden.

Nein, das waren nur ein kurzer Ausschnitt der Duke-Tour und des auf DVD erhältlichen Wembley-Konzertes.
Ich muss sagen, ich finde den 76er Film halb so schlimm, wie er dargestellt wird. Habe auch wirklich kein Problem mit hübschen Mädels in Sanddünen. Ist doch immer die Frage, wo Kitsch anfängt und wo er aufhört. Jedenfalls ist das ein ganz tolles (leider stark gekürztes) Konzert und qualitativ das beste (einzige???) Filmaterial aus dieser Zeit. Ich lasse mich hier übrigens sehr gerne eines Besseren belehren!!! Her mit dem Zeug, wenn's was gibt!
Es wäre auch überhaupt kein Problem, seitens der Band, dieses Material mit anderen Raritäten zu koppeln und auf DVD rauszubringen. Wenn man es denn wirklich möchte?!
Ach ja, gab es da nicht auch mal so etwas wie "Jackson-Tapes"???
Und die Jünger warten immer noch!
