IT BITES anyone?

servus. hier also noch eine kleine "off topic" frage, vorm schlafengehen: wer von euch kennt denn IT BITES?? diese band war mitte/ende der achtziger schwer angesagt. dieser tage (also knapp zwanzig jahre später) ist eine reunion im gespräch. wer sie nicht kennt, sollte sie mal ausprobieren. tips: "the old man and the angel", "once around the world". beide auf dem album "once around the world". gute nacht! -pete-

Tatsächlich haben sich KINO in IT BITES umbenannt : (Quelle ist die Dutch Progressive Rock Page) -

KINO/IT BITES:

It was already jokingly hinted upon, but it now seems awkwardly real that Trewavas/Maitland/Mitchell/Beck side-project Kino has been transformed into the newly reformed It Bites (see also news week 29).
The Kino gig planned at the Classic Rock Society in December has been cancelled only to be replaced by -you guessed it- It Bites.
The Kino gig advertised for Saturday 2nd December 2006 at the Oakwood Centre, Rotherham has now been cancelled. In its place will be the second UK gig by the returning It Bites. Prices and venue remain the same. Support band will still be Touchstone.
It Bites have been off the scene for many years and a return has been on the cards for some time so the CRS is proud to be able to present the band on its return. The line-up will be Bob Dalton on drums, John Beck on keyboards, Dick Nolan on bass and the newcomer, the current CRS Guitarist of the Year, John Mitchell on guitar and vocals.
Once word gets around the CRS expects a rush on tickets so get yours now.
Those that have Kino tickets have the choice of holding on to them and using them on the night for the It Bites gig or they can obtain a refund - 01709 702575!
John Mitchell once again denied all the speculations that this will be the end of Kino on the Kino Forum. When he was asked to give a rundown of all the bands he is currently involved in (Arena, The Urbane, John Wetton Band, Kino, Frost* and It Bites) and how he tells them apart he responded the following:
Well Arena are on some form of hiatus at the moment whilst Clive is busy with his Operatic project.

The Urbane has always been as and when i can fit it in, and is more of a 'hobby'.

John Wetton doesnt tour all that much at the moment and now he and Geoff are busy with Asia and will be a lot of next year.

Kino as i stated before WILL be doing another album in the not too distant future, but Pete T is busy with Marillion at the moment and will be for quite some time. Kino is very much down to schedules permitting.

Frost* and It Bites are the only two things which are currently in the throws of activity. Like all things i do, i am EXTREMELY fond and proud of both Frost and It Bites and I am very fortunate indeed to be involved in two brilliant bands. Funnily enough the IB guys are totally blown away by the FROST album (BD & JB both think it is the freshest thing they have heard in yonks) and you just ask Jem...JB and the music of It Bites was one of his biggest influences growing up (much like myself).

Like i have always said, all i do is music and if we plan far enough ahead then there is easily time enough for more than one thing!
After all, its not like any of the things i am involved in are like U2 and are touring for 3 months at a time. I just like to keep busy and do different interesting things, which i am very fortunate to be able to do.

The only problem is that people will probably be sick of the sight of me by the end of it all!

Btw...re the Kino show.... IB were offered a very cool tour by the original IB promoter and had to fit into a very, very small window of opportunity. Unfortunately that window fell right on top of our Kino date, but we didnt want to lose the whole IB tour.
We did what we thought was the best thing to do under the circumstances and i apologise to anyone who has been inconvenienced or let down. And sorry to Martin Hudson for making his life unecessarily awkward! Sorry Mart!

The Kino show IS being rescheduled as we speak, you have my word! Watch this space over the next couple of days.

Ich besitze die beiden LP's "Once Aroud The World" und "Eat Me In St. Louis" - aber so richtig begeistert war ich von IT BITES nie - irgendwie hat mich die Musik kalt gelassen, ich fand auch den Gesang sehr unterdurchschnittlich. Immerhin habe ich die Alben nie verkauft, im Gegensatz zu "Union" von Yes oder "Invisible Touch"

hallo DocFederfeld. danke für den artikel. irgendwie offensichtlich. daß du die beiden alben nicht verkauft hast, spricht doch für sich. vielleicht solltest du doch noch mal in die titel "the old man and the angel" und "once around the world" reinhören... -pete-

Möchte nur schnell anmerken, dass ich IT BITES auch kenne. Old man and the angel sowie Plastic Dreamer sind gut zu hören, ansonsten schließe ich mich der Meinung des Federdocs an. So richtig vermisst habe ich die Beisser seit ihrer Auflösung nicht.

moin! es gibt zwischendurch auch mal gute nachrichten! it bites kommen im sommer nach deutschland:

vorerst ist wohl nur dieser gig geplant. aber es ist ja vielleicht naheliegend, dass noch ein paar gigs dazu kommen. ich werde versuchen, dort hinzugehen. zumal ich it bites 1987 dort das erst mal live sah. damals im vorprogramm von marillion. und fish spielt ja an diesem abend auch. dem habe ich zwar vor jahren abgeschworen aber vielleicht braucht der eine zweite chance... also leute macht euch auf. it bites ist live ein echtes brett... )) -Pete-

Das Problem am Lineup auf der Lorelei ist, daß die guten Bands schon mittags spielen - am Samstag kann man nach den Flower Kings nach Hause gehen, am Sonntag nach Neal Morse ...
